Mimizan – Contis
Meet in the morning at the equestrian center to share a coffee with the riders who arrived the day before, before heading to the center. We’ll explore the grounds, meet the other participants, the staff, and the horses. We’ll prepare the horses and work in the arena to get acquainted with them. Horse changes are possible if needed.
Then we’ll set off for a 2-3 hour ride along the coastline, enjoying panoramic views of the forest and the ocean beyond. After an hour to get a feel for your horse’s temperament, we’ll head to a secluded beach far from civilization. We’ll ride south, staying on the beach for two hours this morning, taking the time to breathe in the salty air and the endless open spaces. We’ll enjoy individual or paired canters to Contis, overlooking the banks of the Courlis River as it flows into the ocean.
Lunch will be served in a traditional Landes architectural setting with a magnificent ocean view, followed by a siesta.
In the afternoon, we’ll get back in the saddle and explore the forest. A ride from ridge to ridge with breathtaking scenery and peaks reaching over 150 meters in altitude.
The route continues to the white sand plain, then along the banks of the Courlis River through the ancient Landes forest, offering 3 kilometers of refreshing coolness and lush greenery. The trail passes through the high moorland, showcasing examples of traditional Landes architecture. The route then follows the old bandits’ trail to the evening rest stop, where the horses can enjoy a well-deserved rest.
Return to the equestrian center by minibus. Enjoy a hot shower or a dip in the pool, a relaxing break, and massages available upon reservation. Dinner is served between 8:30 and 9:00 PM.
Saint-Julien – Aureilhan – Mimizan Beach
After breakfast, we set off from the area around Saint-Julien-en-Born, galloping through the Moulasse marshes and then to the Bourg-le-Vieux pond. We leave the landscapes of the Haute-Lande behind and return to the dunes of the coastal zone. After watering the horses at the Tirelagüe marshes, we gallop towards the outskirts of Mimizan-Bourg and then the shores of Lake Aureilhan.
Lunch and the traditional restorative nap.
We prepare the horses for a 2-3 hour ride. We ride along the lake shore for 2 km, then, over the top of the dunes, which offer unexpected views and beautiful vistas of the ocean, we reach the banks of the Mimizan stream and its mouth. The ride ends with a stroll along the beach at sunset before returning to the equestrian center.
Arrival time varies depending on the time of year.
