The ride follows ridgelines offering stunning views of the vast forest Landes and its unexpectedly dramatic natural dunes. Explore the coastline, the pond, and the Tirelagüe marshes. Continue through the high moorland to Lake Aureilhan, following the banks and the river.

Enjoy a meal in the great outdoors alongside free-roaming horses. End the day with a ride on the beach, including one or two gallops at sunset, before returning to the stables.

Features

Duration: 1 day. Arrival the day before is possible.

Participant age: From 15 years old. Teenagers of 13 years old if accompanied and having a minimum galop 4 level.

Required riding level: Minimum Galop 3/4, or comfortable at all three gaits with the ability to manage speed and direction while cantering independently.
This ride requires riders with a minimum Galop 3 level and a reasonable level of fitness. The pace is brisk, with frequent trots and canters, allowing for an average of 35 km per day in approximately 6 hours of riding. Cantering is generally done individually or in pairs, whether in the forest or on the beach, allowing riders to control their speed. A group for lower-level riders may be formed, and the ride will follow a shorter route and safer sections for cantering.

Group size: Minimum 3 riders and maximum 8 people

Supervision and safety: Supervision is provided by qualified ATE, CQP ASA or BPJEPS Equestrian Tourism guides, who have extensive knowledge of the Landes and are eager to share it with you. They also speak English.

Program

Aureilhan coastline and lake

Meet at the equestrian center to share coffee or tea and a warm croissant with the other participants. Get acquainted with the staff and then discover the horses. After preparing your mount, ride in the arena to get acquainted with your horse. Horse changes are possible if needed.

Departure for a 2.5-hour horseback ride. Discover the Landes coastline with sweeping views of the Landes and the Atlantic Ocean in the background. Explore the Tirelagüe pond and marshes where the horses drink. Continue riding through the high moorland to Lake Aureilhan. Ride along the lake's shores, then stop by the river for a picnic where the horses can enjoy their freedom. Lunch in the heart of nature followed by a well-deserved nap.

Forested ridges and sunset

Horseback riding activities resume depending on the time of year. The horses are prepared for a 2-3 hour ride. The ride follows the riverbanks and then back into the forest , traversing ridge lines offering lovely views of the vast forest and its unexpectedly dramatic natural dunes. The route continues towards the beach , culminating in one or two gallops at sunset before returning to the stables. Arrival time varies depending on the season and the length of the days. Transfers are then made to the guesthouse or hotel for those staying overnight.
