Program

Primary forest and Uza estate

Meet at the equestrian gîte. Departure from the meadow between the villages of Bias and Saint-Julien. Preparation of the horses and departure for a 3-hour stage.

Discover on horseback the primeval forest as it existed before 1850 and the maritime pine plantations established under Napoleon III. Explore the cool and shaded wild banks of the Courlis.

Crossing the lands of Count Alexandre de Lur-Saluces, also owner of the châteaux of Fargues and Yquem in Sauternes. Arrival at Uza, an enclave in the Pays de Born and the Landes, which lived under the protection of the château. The forges are a living testament to the intense activity of this hamlet of 250 inhabitants in the past. In the 17th century, the forges anchored the population: resin tappers, cattle herders, and smelters had constant work and were housed on-site in simple wooden huts, which, over the years, became houses.

Picnic.

Bird sanctuary and old quarters

Back in the saddle for a ride through the Uza ornithological reserve, a birdwatcher's paradise. A ride towards Levignac, considered the most beautiful village in the Landes, a listed site. A break for refreshments in front of the inn and a visit to the fortified church with its wooden ceiling and unexpected frescoes and paintings.

The horseback riding tour continues towards Mézos, exploring the old Landes villages dating back to the 18th century, with their traditional architecture and characteristic farmsteads. Enjoy numerous gallops along this cultural and natural route. Arrival is expected at the end of the day after a ride rich in discoveries.
